Parquet flooring or Herringbone flooring comes in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. And provides a flexible platform to complete your flooring. We can create many patterns with the blocks in a single or double herringbone flooring pattern, or they can be more complex patterns such as basket weave, Chevrons and many more. The blocks can be traditional,  modern or contemporary style.  Colours and textures are created to look like they were installed a hundred years ago. Yet they also work within today’s warm homes and can benefit from being laid over underfloor heating.

PARQUET FLOORING, PATTERNS & PANELS.

Wood parquet floor panels are constructed from varying-shaped blocks adhered on top of a ply base to create an engineered block.  Parquet floor panels can be formed in numerous patterns.  Versailles parquet is the most famous styled flooring pattern in the world. Versailles panels were used extensively in 17th and 18th century France. In castles and large homes of the nobility.

Patterns are still installed into many properties giving that feeling of luxury to a traditional or modern design.  These parquet flooring designs can also be formed as a continuous pattern across the floor.  There are many design patterns to choose from  Geometric, Mansion weave, basket weave, Versailles wood flooring,

Parquet Flooring.

Parquet flooring or Herringbone flooring as it is commonly known. And the most popular type of parquet flooring used today. Herringbone flooring patterns use simple rectangle blocks of either traditional small-sized solid wood blocks or a modern engineered herringbone flooring block. Our engineered blocks with various sizes available up to 120mm wide and 600mm long. Options for larger formats by special request. These engineered floors can be installed over underfloor heating.

Chevron Parquet Flooring.

Chevron Parquet flooring is enjoying a renaissance.  Its very shape makes a strong design statement.  The chevron style uses a trapezoidal-shaped angle of 35 or 45 degrees.  And creates a distinctive V shape within the pattern instead of the rectangular block used for herringbone.

A little History

Parquet derives from the Old French word parchet or parc and means “a small enclosed space”. Large diagonal squares are known as parquet de Versailles. These were introduced mid to late 1600. as parquet de menuiserie (“woodwork parquet”). And Creates a warmer space than the alternative stone and marble flooring previously used.

Materials

Timber contrasting in colour and grain, such as oak, walnut, cherry, and maple, are sometimes employed. So are the more Opulent kinds, like mahogany and other tropical hardwoods. We can also insert other mediums into the wood panels. So that porcelain, steel, and leather enhance the past and take you into the future of hardwood flooring.

Parquet floors previously adhered to the subfloors with hot bitumen.  We now install our floors over sub-floors from concretes to liquid screeds and timber.  Sub-floor preparations have also moved on tremendously, making installation much quicker and providing a stronger bond between the differing mediums. Engineered versions of parquet blocks and panels can be easily installed over underfloor heating. Providing the correct procedures have been followed.

Maintaining/Repairs

Parquet floors are long-lasting and require little maintenance to the actual wood, but the finish will need some care and attention to keep it looking pristine.

We can also revitalise your parquet floor by resanding and sealing the Oak. With our Natural Hardwax oils that enrich, feed and bring your Oak flooring back to life. Or we can create a traditional or contemporary styled parquet or panelled floor with our virtually endless colour ways.
