Carefully emulating centuries of use, this spectacular finish pays homage to the old original floorboards, beautifully smooth and waxy embodying all the characteristics of an aged well-loved antique floor with the subtle undulated wood floor surface, soft, foot-worn areas and hand-rolled edges. Axed Old Barn Wood Flooring has been created by splitting the wood, done in the traditional way of cleaving the oak along the trunk and splitting along the grain into planks resulting in a unique surface finish of splits rips and nuances being the perfect old barn wood flooring.
Our waxy old-style finishes are hand applied to each aged plank. This subtle ageing of natural reactive processes and layers of built-up by hand-applied wax patinas create the special aged flooring. Our aged and distressed flooring collection has the most wonderful balance of stripped paired back planks, soft grey weathered browns to the richness of dark polish. As time passes these special French oak floors will continue to age and the patina develop further as all great floors should.
