Our Green Credentials

Our commitments to sustainability & certifications

Our Green credentials are important to our business so that we know we are doing our best to lessen the negative impact on our little planet. Here are a few of the ways we are improving our green credentials.

CARB compliant – formaldehyde emissions

All our floors are CARB-Phase 2 compliant. All wood naturally contains levels of formaldehyde. The issue is the rate of release in parts per million. Our plywood is class E1 (0.1 ppm). Because it is in complete compliance with EU safety standards. CARB-Phase 2 is the world’s strictest formaldehyde emission standard.

FSC® and PEFC certified – Responsible management of forests

There are international, non-governmental organisations which promote the responsible management of forests. The leading two authorities in this field are the FSC® (the Forest Stewardship Council®) and PEFC (the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)

Committed to sustainability – We plant a tree for every 50m2 of wood flooring sold.

We go a step further to help mitigate co2 emissions – A helping hand to nature! Together we make ourselves and our clients “Timber Neutral”.

For products labelled sustainable, replanting may not be a requirement. Our Timber neutral programme provides a proactive and straightforward means of ensuring replanting takes place to ensure that products are truly sustainable.

Timber Neutral was formed to establish proactive certification and mitigation services that eliminate reliance on third-party approvals. Timber Neutral is sustainable forestry made simple and universal.

Replanting trees to match our usage of timber in an audited reforestation program, including threatened and endangered species, doing so, CO2 emissions are offset against you’re timber, becomes ‘Timber Neutral’. We are committed to sustainable living, and where possible, we take control of these environmental processes rather than relying on third parties. We pledge to plant one tree for every 50m2 of wood flooring sold.

Committed to a greener environment – All our waste goes to Waste Recovery – NO LANDFILL

All our Office, showroom, warehouse and finishing centre waste goes to the Allerton Waste Recovery Park. Being a state-of-the-art waste technology complex provides the latest recovery and processing techniques in the mechanical treatment, anaerobic digestion and energy from waste (EfW) together, these technologies increase recycling from collected “black bag” household waste and businesses while cutting down the amount of waste sent to landfill by at least 90%.

Allerton Waste Recovery Park can deal with up to 1,400 tonnes of waste every day. First, the waste passes through mechanical processes where machinery separates the recyclable, food and biodegradable material. Recyclates can be reprocessed into new products. Whilst biodegradable materials enter into the anaerobic digester for conversion into electricity.

The remaining waste is burned in the energy from the waste facility to create electricity. Comprehensive filter systems capture and control emissions and even the resulting ash is suitable for re-processing once metals have been removed for recycling.

Every year, the EfW will generate around 74,000 tonnes of ash which will be turned into construction-related materials for use on highways and infrastructure projects.
Anaerobic digestion and EfW treatment will together generate around 218GWh electricity per year.
